The Third Secret

While our investigation so far does not deal directly with discovering the true Third Secret of Fatima, the thesis of an impostor Sister Lucy has obvious implications on this critical topic. As everyone knows, the Vatican released what they claimed to be the text of the Third Secret on May 13, 2000 under the auspices of Cardinals Tarcisio Bertone, then Secretary for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, Angelo Sodano, then Vatican Secretary of State, and Joseph Ratzinger, Prefect of the CDF. Of course, Bertone met with “Sr. Lucy” to obtain her benediction for the release of the Secret as well as the Vatican’s “interpretation” of its meaning. For those interested, the full account may be found at the Vatican website.

What was the Vatican’s interpretation of the Third Secret? Simply that it symbolically depicted the assassination attempt on John Paul II. Many questions may be asked, but without repeating them here, suffice it to say that the Vatican’s text makes no sense. However, since 1960 they have attempted repeatedly to reassure and calm the “Fatima fanatics,” and if that doesn’t work, dismiss them as “prophets of doom.” As the New York Times article hastened to add on the occasion of the Secret’s publication, in complete conformity with the trend the Vatican had set since 1960 regarding Fatima, “The cardinal’s announcement was an effort by the Vatican to put an end to the kind of fevered speculation that has at times overshadowed the shrine’s spiritual importance to hundreds of millions of Catholics.” A spiritual importance that has nothing specific to say to our times beyond what a Catholic may learn from basic catechism and the Gospels!

But if we have positive evidence that this Sr. Lucy, who when shown the Third Secret had the odd impulse to assert aloud, “This is my letter. This is my writing,” was in fact an impostor, then everything about the Vatican’s release of the Third Secret becomes one more culpable addition to the cover-up.
